Burmese Army Troops Removed A Cross from RCM Prayer Mountain

Burmese army’s 261 Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) troops seized a Roman Catholic Mission’s prayer mountain located at Tanggau Bum in Awng Bar Le in Hpakant Township.
Local sources said Burmese troops launched an attack beginning Feb 20. The soldiers removed a giant cross which symbolizes Christian faith from top of the mountain after they seized the mountain.

About 2000 villagers were trapped inside Awng Bar Le village as fighting intensified between Kachin Independence Army and Burmese Army troops in Hpakant area. Burmese army troops refused to allow a group of Christian ministers, Buddhist monks, and Civil Society Organizations who came to rescue trapped villagers to enter into Awng Bar Le village.
