The Path to Peace in Kachin State

A panel discussion on the conflict situation in Kachin State, Myanmar and an analysis of efforts to forge sustainable peace between the government and the Kachin Independence Organization and other ethnic nationality groups.

The panel is timed with the release of the report "State Terror in Kachin Hills"
by the Kachin Women's Assocation of Thailand (KWAT) documenting Burmese military abuses against civilians since the onset of the war in June 2012 and the massive displacement of internal refugees.

Panelists include Julia Marip of the Kachin Womens Association of Thailand, Dr. Decha Tangseefa, Faculty of Political Science, Thammasat University and James Lin, Director Southeast Asia Desk, International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH).

A trailer will be screened from the forthcoming documentary about the Kachin people's culture and resistance to military abuse produced by Ryan Libre, founder of Documentary Arts Asia.
