someone to come and listen to their stories

By: Jangai Jap

More than three years ago on June 9, 2011 the 1994 ceasefire accord between the government and the KIO broke down and another series of civil war ensued in the Kachin State.

Today there are more than 100,000 internally displaced Kachin refugees.
I recently visited a local IDP camp here in Myitkyina.
As my friend and I were leaving the camp, the families we talked to said they are so incredibly thankful that we came to listen to their stories and to pray with them.

They want peace, they want to go home, but they know that those will take a long process (and time).

For now, they just want someone to come and listen to their stories, to their cries, to their hopes and dreams.
