Breaking News: Local Reports Say Burmese Army Troops Using Civilians As Human Shields
Latest News January 29, 2018 KLN
KIA frontline sources reported that Burmese army troops are moving towards their positions using civilians as human shields to protect against landmines and gunfires in amber mining area in Danai Township.
Local villagers and miners who have been trapped in the firefight were reportedly asked by Burmese army troops to come out of their shelters and begin walking towards KIA troops’ positions, reported the source.
Currently, there are about 3000 civilians trapped between KIA’s 14th Battalion troops and Burmese army troops in the battle zone in Danai.
Battles have been ongoing for days in and around amber mines in Danai and Burmese military fighter jets killed a civilian on Jan 25 and another on Jan 27.
