2011, Dec. 10, 08:00 AM, Humanitarian aid convoy bound to Laiza was blocked by government troops. The convoy was transporting the humanitarian aid from UNICEF, USDP, Red Cross Society and other civil society network, for IDPs around Laiza.
The convoy left Bhamo town at 08:00 AM and they arrived in Momauk at 11:30 AM. Then the Burmese military officials stopped them, saying that the road to Laiza is not safe. Therefore, the convoy was returned to Bhamo.
Bhamo-Laiza road is a trade route where a lot of Chinese goods are being transported. Still these days, there are many traders transporting goods from Laiza to Bhamo.
