What the new government is doing by engaging in war with ethnics?
There has been the war going on between KIA and the Burmese military because the Burmese the Burmese military government write its own 2008 constitution and make ethnic accept. The roots of all problems is in the constitution.
The constitution in Burma should comes from consulting with all political actors and parties, and ethnics. The new military which so called civilian Burmese government is trying to legitimate the government. The moves can be seen in opening up new economic opportunities and calling for investment, proposing for ASEAN chair.
The new fresh strategies that has been done recently is the suspension of Myitsone dam which has been controversial in a wide scale in Myanmar. The new government seems to get applaud from the people as well as welcoming notes from Aung San Su Kyi and from the European Union. According to wikileak, the government has got its back from Western countries.
Will this make Thein Sein government legitimate government? What about the people dying fighting in civil war. Is this the real solution to solve ethnic conflicts? The war should not be counted in small scale because it could lead to civil war and increase the chance of racism in the country which therefore decrease less chance for democracy to prosper in the country in the near future.By: nwai pan
